Learning Quests

--Workshops, Weekend Getaways, the MQI Foundational Quests, Retreats--

These learning Quests enable the Institute to share its research and to help individuals and organizations grow and achieve sustainable high performance. MQI research is guided by the increasingly difficult challenges surfacing around the globe ... the challenges driven by rapid change, uncertainty and growing complexity. Learning Quests are designed to increase our understanding of the nature of ourselves, our reality and our organizations in terms of those challenges. They provide information and knowledge relevant to the future, and suggest new ways of viewing, thinking and acting relative to the change, uncertainty, complexity and anxiety enveloping the globe. See Schedule for those events already scheduled at MAI.  Contact Alex or David at 304-799-7267 to schedule a professional training session at MQI or your workplace.

Each form of quests is briefly described below. Detailed information about specific sessions is available by clicking on the relevant link.

Workshops

MQI workshops provide learning experiences for professional and other knowledge workers. Varying from three to five days in length, each workshop is an outgrowth of current Institute research related to specific issues faced by individuals and organizations. Designed to bring participants up to date on the latest theory and practices, the workshops mix short tutorials, group discussions, small group problem solving and personal reflection. Participants are encouraged to pursue their own learning needs and to share problems and insights with others. Upon completing the workshop, participants have a large number of new ideas, a workbook for reference, a network of other attendees and an action list for follow-on learning.

Weekend Getaways

As our world becomes more complicated many of us feel the need to escape from our daily activities and environment and get away to relax, learn and reflect on those things that are important to us but get lost in the rush of life. The MQI Weekend Getaways encourage individuality, participation and dialogue. Often there are no "right answers," only insights, perspectives and growth of understanding. The Institute's labyrinth, three miles of trails, and 18,000-volume research library encourage quiet contemplation and meaningful conversation. The Getaways are facilitated, schedules are flexible, and personal journeys encouraged.

The MQI Foundational Quests
The MQI Quests are designed to facilitate the individual's journey from information and knowledge through consciousness to meaning. Each quest builds on the previous ones. The Quest for Knowledge provides a language of concepts that are needed to learn and work with meta-knowledge. It also addresses the issues of learning how to learn, the validity of knowledge and various approaches to finding, creating, sharing and applying knowledge. The Quest for Consciousness addresses the question of what is consciousness and how does it influence the creation of our perceived reality. Various forms of consciousness are discusses and their implications and meaning are explored. The Quest for Meaning encourages individuals to ask their most basic questions and pursue selected ones to discover the meaning of both the question and potential answers. In the end, it is the journey we value most.

Retreats

Retreats are both formal and informal, designed to meet the needs of executive or community groups, project or program teams, or friends and family gathering. Retreats can be combined with sessions similar to those provided for workshops, weekend getaways, or the MQI foundational quests, or we would be pleased to offer consulting services and share research underway.
